Harry was in a band with his school friends called White Eskimo, in which he was the lead singer. They once entered a Battle of the Bands competition in which they won, and he says that the rush he got from that, performing live in front of tons of people, was what he craved, and so he tried out for the X Factor. He was 16 when he auditioned, and if he was born 1 day later, he would have missed the age cutoff for auditions that year. He sang "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder, and received a no from Louis Walsh because he thought that he was too young, however Harry got a yes from Nicole Scherzinger and Simon Cowell thought that Harry had amazing talent, and gave him a yes.
